Looking for a Jeep bra....

Hi everyone, I'm new here. Just sold my Nissan Titan last Monday and will be getting a used Tj next Saturday once the cashiers check clears. I already have the jeep picked out and the seller is holding it for me. It's a real nice condition 2001 sport. The only problem with it is that the hood has a bunch of little cracks in the paint. I was thinking, until I can afford to have it repainted I would get one of those bras that say jeep and throw it on there.

Any good reccomendations on where to get one for the cheapest? And are they all the same? I've seen several online and they all appear to be the same but its hard to tell.

And of course - pics will be up as soon as i get my jeep!

Suggestion:
$4.00 for touch up paint and call it a day. Or maybe get one of these.

Actually its the whole hood and the cowling. It almost seems as if the factory paint wasn't done right. Imagine a peice of plastic that bent - all the little hairline cracks that would appear on it. It's similar to that. The whole hood and cowling will need to be sanded and repainted. That will be a few hundred at least. The damage is most noticiable on the front half of the hood. I figure a bra will cover the majority of it until i can have it fixed.

to avoid any confusion, this is what I'm looking for. Perhaps I'm calling it the wrong name.

Welcome, I know most people here dont buy bras for the jeep so I would just take the time to google search and compare prices.

$1200 for just the hood?

man, i just had a company we use thru my work repaint the tailgate of my just sold truck for $200. it had several scratches on one end a big 7" long scratch right in the middle.

i founf a hood-bra online for $55, free shipping so i went ahead and got it. i will go ahead and get a qoute to have it re painted, but at least in the meantime, it will be partially covered.

thanks everyone!

oh ok. that sounds much better. yeah i expect to pay about 2-300 for it. but for now, a $55 bra will be enough.

you are goping to paint your hard top? the same color as the body or what? my soon to be jeep is blue is blue with a tan top. im wondering how it would look with a black top. the soft top is black and it looks nice.

Sand it down and put herculiner on it. . . you'll have a bra that never comes off or wears out.

The bras have there own problems however. They trap moisture and debris, and the metal rusts out if you don't clean it out.

Don't buy a bra, save that money for your paint job.

Stick the money you would spend on a bra into a 'paint fund' and add to it until you can get the work done, cause trust me on this (guys/gals back me up on this) once you have the work eventually done, you will never use that bra again. Why? Cause it will scratch the livin' $h_t out of your new paint job. They trap sand, dirt, mud, etc... between themselves and the paint, and when you are out (even just 4 a sunday drive) they vibrate, and shake, etc... and it's like having sandpaper on your hood.... and you will be right where you started.

If you are worried about 'looks', go find a mud puddle, hit it fast enough to throw mud all over the front, and drive it that way, without washes, until it's time to fix it. (LOL) Giving it that 'GET SOME!" look will do it justice....
