Looking for a vent Scoop for my 2002

I have been looking into buying a hood scoop and wanted some opinions and pictures if you got em..

I have been eyeballing the Truckmaster on on 4WD.com (http://www.4wd.com/productdetails.aspx?partID=11345)

but wondered what else might be out there and maybe obscure but cool!

1. It will help keep some of the elements out. Rain and snow
2. I saw one some where that had a filter incorporated into it. Keep the dust out.

............and if you want one why not?

I'm still not sure if it works or not just yet but it does look good!

When I get done installing my bikini top tomorrow i'll snap a few of my scoop. You can have it forwards or backwards It really doesn't make a difference.

I really have no idea but it kept the snow and leaves out of the vent.

Yes it's a Truckmaster and I guess I liked the way it looked. Not sure if it really has a purpose other than directing the air in. I put in on as soon as I bought the jeep, so didn't get to see if there was a difference with the heater.

I have one from Quadratech, for me it helped with the A/C at lower speeds.

Yea, that vent is your intake for the A/C / Heating system. The vents help direct more air into the system, making it more efficient. Almost "ram-air" for your A/C and heat The forward / backward debate stems from the argument over what is more efficient, stuffing air into the scoop driving forwards at high speeds, or letting the "vaccume" in the HVAC system suck the dead air that sits at the bottom of the windshield at a constant rate.

Oman 4x4 has a technical article viz. airflow over the hood. At speed, there is a forward movement of air (oddly) toward the front, at the base of the windshield. Ergo, any scoop should be faced, counterintuitively, to the rear. It is useful when coupled with a cowl air intake, allowing for cooler and cleaner air into the filter.

If you want it for looks, face it forward. If you want it to work correctly and keep most of the debris out, face it with the opening towards the windshield.
