I'm considering buying the Tuffy Subwoofer Security Console to replace my factory center console. 4WD.com is offering a 10% discount on the unit for three days, so I'd like to make a choice soon.
I want a sub in my Jeep and my current console doesn't have the mounting structure. I've found aftermarket console mounts to add to the factory console that allow a sub to be put in, but they're pretty much the same price as the Tuffy unit.
(I'm not interested in mounting my sub anywhere else, so please don't recommend other mounting locations.)
I don't have Tuffy's center subwoofer console but I have installed three of Tuffy's other security products (glove compartment, console liner, rear underseat-drawer) and they were all top-notch quality that would make a thief sweat to break into. I suspect their subwoofer console is the same high quality.

No audio expert here. I bought a used Tuffy sub console whic I put my stock sub enclosure in. The PO of the Tuffy console had (I forget, 8 or 10" sub. ) There are mounting holes on it for the woofer. He put dynomat on the inside and had an external amp (No audio expert here.) I can't say how well it did or did nt sound.
I don't know how much bass you are looking for. If you are not looking for heart pounding, I'd get the standard Tuffy enclosure which would get you more storage and there are any number of compact powered subs you can put under a seat. I also have a Kenwood SW-10 under my rear seat. I know you said you don't want it anywhere else but you will still need an amp which will take up as much room as this.

A friend of mine is great with car audio and electronics, so he's my next step. He also mentioned that I'm going to need an amp to power the sub. Hopefully, someone knows if it's possible to install an amp into the compartment along with the sub.
I'm not looking for earth-shattering sound; I just want something that actually has some low-end to it. Not that my aftermarket speakers are crap, but they only provide so much low-end, which is barely any.
I should also note that I'm not really concerned with storage area. I don't keep much of anything in my Jeep.
I recently started a thread about using my factory non sub console for a sub. I decided to go with a sound ordnance powered sub. Its only an 8" sub but it has a built in amp. If your just looking for something to give you some low end without shaking the windows this is a good alternative. Heres a link to the thread with some great info on the install and info about the sub, plus its a lot less than the console you posted above and its all in one. Anyways heres the link... sound ordinance powered sub in console?
