looking into a Tj

okay so i am sad that i sold my 92 yj a few months ago and have regretted it since!! now i am looking to get a 97 tj i found for a decent price. but it has 223k miles on the 2.5l i know the 4.0s are strong and that is what i had but not to sure about the 4 bangers? i know they are gutless but any suggestions?

If I were you I would really try to find a 4.0. The 4 cylinder s are good engines and will last a long time but I drove my friends stock 4cyl once and really wasn't comfortable with the lack of power. Even on 33" tires with stock 3.73 gearing, my 4.0 does fine.

figure out how much money you can budget to buy your TJ then get the most TJ you can for what you want to spend....a 1997 4-cyl w/ 223K miles does not sound like a good way to get back into a Wrangler.

I say keep looking for the mileage aspect. I haven't seen anybody crying because they didn't get a 4.0, it's not a HUGE deal. But I wouldn't buy anything with over 150,000 miles unless there was a full service history for it's entirety.

I've personally witnessed someone cry over not getting a 4.0
