Looking to buy a TJ

Im looking to buy a TJ and honestly dont know a lot about them. Ive had a 71 FJ40 Land Cruiser and loved it but realize this would be quite a bit different. Ive been told to look for the Sports or Sahara's with the 4.0L and the Dana 44 rear axle but other than that no other opinions. This will be a daily driver and Im looking for something that will tow my bikes out to the trails and desert plus I will be taking the Jeep to the mountains and sand dunes. I want to spend about $10K total on the Jeep.

Anyone got any ideas or opinions on TJ's?

You're already aware of the major considerations with the engine and rear axle. One thing I would add is if you're looking at an auto tranny'd jeep, be sure to get one that's a 4 speed. I con't recall which year jeep went form the 3 speed to the 4 speed, though.
