loose driveline

So my rear driveline is installed and the straps are tight but there is about 1/4 inch of up and down play in the yoke. The u joint is new and the yoke doesnt seem to be worn out. I welded a washer onto the ujoint to eliminate the play temporarily. Any suggestions?

What is your setup? If yoke splines arent worn it could be pinion bearings..

When you say you welded in a washer to stop the play... I assume you welded it on a bearing cap? If you had to do this, it sounds like you broke the ear of your yoke that holds your ujoint center in the yoke....

See the tabs on the outer edge? make sure you have them and they are not worn or bent.

Yeah... you have the wrong ujoint then... you should have a 1310 series ujoint...

Do you have the old ujoint you took out? You can compare them that way as well.

Another setback your quick fix is the fact that you have now offset the ujoint to one side and it will cause a vibration for sure... vibes are not good for driveline components.... get this correct on the double.
