Loose Quadratec top

Hello, I'm new here but i'm happy to finally be a part of the jeep community!
Two weeks ago I purchased an 05 wrangler X with a what looks like a "New" Quadratec top on it. After some highway driving and top down action i've noticed that the top is really loose at the back sail panels and rear side windows. The passenger side window tends to fall out of place on the bottom and flap on the highway and everything just looks limp in back. It bugs me a lot so I talked to Quadratec and they assured me that there is only one size made for the wrangler and most employees there have the same top with no troubles ever. it even seemed odd that it could be loose considering most people have to leave it in the sun to stretch before install. I've looked at forums and found others with the problem but there hasn't been a fix yet. all of the hardware seems to be in order, and I took everything off to make sure it was installed correctly, so now i'm stumped.

Has anyone found a fix for this?
I read that the top changed in 02, was the previous year longer by an inch or so?

There is another post about something similar on the same page. Some were questioning if the front of the top was installed properly. I pulling for you, as I have had my eye on the quadratec top but have been to scared to get it. There is usually a vendor who pops in and is quite helpful. xfingers.

I had the exact same problem with my Quadratop. Rear sail panels never fit tight and there was quite a bit of droop.

I even installed it twice thinking I had done something incorrectly, but nope....same problem, and the upper door skins didn't fit the door surrounds and actually pushed the metal frames away from the body.

I ended up tossing mine and bought a Bestop Supertop NX.

It is possible the previous owner did not properly attach & wrap the front of the top around the header that clamps to the windshield. Getting the leading edge of the top properly installed is not exactly intuitive.

I'm right there w/ you. I need a softy ASAP, and was hoping the quad was decent. As much as I'd love to pop for a nice sailcloth Bestop, my budget is tight, and I want to put my funds towards other mods that need to be " done right". Let's face it, if it has a good fit and keeps the rain off my head I'm good.

It is looking more and more like I will be going Bestop Replace a Top. Just got a quote for 520 (Sailcloth), not counting a mail in. That is more than the Quad Top, but with fewer posts crying for help. Really hoping it is an easy fix for OP regarding his quad top.

Just put mine on yesterday and it was a TIGHT fit. Gotta make sure the front part with the screws in installed correctly. Took me about 30 mins of just staring at it to figure it out.

Keep us posted on how tight it stays. I'm gathering from the OP, that theirs came with the top, and it is no longer tight. So I read it as "was tight" now "not tight". Good to hear yours is working as intended so far. Pics, and updates. Thanks.

I've had my Quadratop since August and it is STILL very tight-- I have to pull down on the rear frame to have a prayer of getting the sail panels attached. For $300 it's a bargain and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

It's either not attached correctly or the frame itself is bent if it doesn't fit snugly.

I watched the video, took it all apart and everything is correct. But the top is still loose. I'm told to leave it in the sun for a while any maybe it will get snug. Someone recommended putting it in a paint booth on the heat cycle to shrink it but I don't have access to that. I'm just dealing with it until I can get a best top. Summer is coming and I don't plan on having it up much anyhow, I just hate the way it looks soo bad!! Thanks for all the input guys. Ill keep posted as summer gets hot and maybe it will shrink...

It is under warranty. The Quadratop hasn't been out for 3 years. I wonder what the rep has to say, maybe they help you out?

I'm basically waiting to hear what they say. I got the funds for the 520 sailcloth or the quadtop, HURRY UP QUAD vendor.

I have my quad top since September 2012 and it fits very snugly. I had a hard time getting installing it because of the tight fit and cool days. It is now 80's and sunny and it still fits great. Did you call Quadratec to see if they could help you?

Warming the top in the sun will make it looser, not tighter. I still suspect something is not right where it was attached to/wrapped around the header.

Mine fits good, "almost" wish it would loosen up some. Right now it's a pain in the rear to get the hooks latched down and get the side windows zipped back. I dont dare let it drop below 65 with the windows out, if I do, they stay out till it warms up!
