Lost my mind or bad suspention?

So the back story, mom mother bought this jeep new in 1997. I have always had sports cars. She gave me her jeep a year ago. The jeep was a daily driver and taken car of. Only 101,000 miles on it. Stock suspension on 31 x 10.5, 8 inch rims. My question is, when I drive around it feels very shaky when I hit bumps and just a general loose suspension. Do you think I need to get a new suspension? I plan on lifting it soon 4 inches to put bigger tires on it. But don't know if I should do it sooner than I plan or is this just how keeps feel to drive?

You need to compare it to another Jeep at least. Trying to compare a sports car ride to a Jeep ride is not the way to see if there is a problem. Find someone that has one ( even a dealership ) and test drive it.

shocks are probably shot. control arm & track bar bushings could be toast. sway bar links could be toast. tie-rod ends could be toast. crawl under the jeep and start looking for culprits.

X2. Also bolts/nuts on said parts could be loose, wouldn't hurt to torque them.

Torque all the bolts, check for play in the steering, and make sure your front end is aligned.
