Loud click or bang when reversing

I searched the site but didn't see much about this issue. I have a 2004 rubi that I bought a couple months back. It has an auto transmission and has a 3in body lift with 2in spacers (i think) on 35in tires. I know this is not an ideal lift and I am in the process of taking the body lift off or go to a 1.25 BL with a 4im suspension and go down to 33s. I bought it cause it only had 26k miles and was a family friend who sold it for 15k. My issue right now is when I go into reverse and give it a small amount of gas it's quiet but if I get on the gas at all in reverse it makes a loud bang sounding like metal on metal. If I really get on the gas in reverse (then after the loud bang) I put it into drive it sounds like metal unraveling or uncrinkling. Other than that it rides fine but I'm getting worried about it cause I know it's not supposed to do it and sound is getting worse. I just want to make sure it's not ruining anything. My mechanic got underneath it and I proceeded to make the jeep do the noise but he couldn't figure out what is causing it. Anyone have any ideas? I'm hoping getting rid of the (ugly) 3in BL will solve the issue. (sorry for the grammar I wrote this from my cell phone)

I would check the rear drive shaft u-joints and CV section if it's a CV shaft. Also, it can be the bushings in the control arms wearing down. In the rear a real easy way to check is to set the e-brake and have someone grab the tire and attempt rolling it forward and back - it will make the axle rotate either way and show loose bushings/bolts.
