loud rattle under my wrangler

I have a annoying rattle under my wrangler. Have looked several times with no luck. Could it be inside my catalytic converter? HELP thanks.

Mine ended up being the muffler came disconnected and was sliding back and forth on the pipe banging on the broken weld. Check the entire exhaust sys and mounts.

If that is not it, then you might want to drop the skid and inspect your tranny mount.

Cats commonly rattle when the ceramic element inside breaks up and that particular rattle is common when the engine is at idle rpms. So yes it very well could be your cat... among other possible rattles.

My muffler also became disconnected and would rattle especially in a too high of a gear. Weld had broken loose. May be able to grab your tail pipe and see if it has alot of stroke in and out.

Same thing happened to me, only when going over bumps. ended up being the exhaust banging on my transfer case skid plate.. I didn't have money to get it checked out and repaired, so I just jacked it up and placed a piece of square tubing underneath. Noise is completely gone now.

Most likely your catalytic converter. I had the same problem, it would rattle when at idle, and sounded like it was taking a turd when i turned the Jeep off, it would occasionally bang around when going over big bumps as well...i actually just replaced it with a Magnaflow catalytic converter and all my problems have been solved. It has even improved the tone of my exhaust.
It is a direct bolt on with a new head pipe too. If you dont replace it soon, most likely you will blow an O2 sensor and it will throw the check engine light on.
