Lower Steering Column Bearing?

Hi all,

Searched the forums (and internet) on this one with no success.
I was inspecting the steering linkages on my 2000 Wrangler, and found that this item has a crack/split in it. My question is, is it designed to have the split there, or is it need of replacement? I'm unable to find this part listed anywhere, so I'm not sure how it's supposed to look. Attached is photo, with the split circled. The bearing itself seems fine, it's the support and related parts that have the split.
The column itself is in two parts, and upper, coming from the steering wheel, and a lower, where this bearing sits.

Thanks!

Is that the bracket just downstream from the firewall?

Yes - there's a metal piece, a bracket, it holds the parts that surround the bearing.
Question is, is there supposed to a be split in it?
