Question: I get freaked out when I'm driving with the soft top on cause it's noisy and I feel like its gonna fly right off my jeep. Is this normal?

Yep. It flaps, rattles, sounds like its gonna fly away. But if its "clamped" in the front, "clipped" in the back, you're fine

Do it! Its pretty crazy the first time. Also, if you live in a windy place make sure to be cautious about the wind pushing you all over.

My soft top is ridiculously tight, it doesn't make noise or feel like it's coming off ever, even with the doors off and windows out. The downside is that it's a PITA to put back up if it's 60 or lower. I have to hang on the back to get the rear corners in.

Lol - If you are travelling with peps on the motorway just tell you wont be speaking to them for a while whilst on the motorway. If it is not going to rain I will take the roof down and turn the heater up. Less noisy and usually warm enough ( i live in the UK so rains a lot and is cold a lot ).

That's manly! I drove my CJ for over a year with no top, and a poncho for rainy days

Stopped skimming a while back.

$250...first expense....recovery gear.

South Louisiana style...knee boots.

Tow hooks front and rear, recovery strap, gloves,

Have a winch? Beach towel to throw on winch cable, tree saver, snatch block is beneficial as well.

Second purchase...join a local Jeep club (usually less than $50 a year). They will help guide you and teach you.

Harry I know that feeling. I just replaced my crazy tight roof. Well actually had no choice. After struggling for on average 30 minutes to get the thing back up I lost it one day and cut the thing off the frame. Bought a new Best Top roof and love it. Can get it up within about 3 minutes (less time with Viagra), but i digress, back to the roof.

I do still hang off the back to get the back corners in, not out of necessity but used to doing and it does make things go quicker.
