Manifold Leak

Whats up all...I have a 98 TJ with an exhaust manifold leak..after further inspection I have found that the most rear bolt appears to be broken off inside the block..which would make sense for the leak..my question is..

have any of you experienced this same problem or something similar to it and how hard was it to replace?

I also have a buddy thats going to help me tap and remove the broken belt...I dont have the right tools..

If the bolt isn't broken before you remove the exhaust manifold there is always a good chance it will break during the removal process. Replaced my manifold (good old TJ stock cast manifold crack) and broke 2 bolts. You have the right idea on the fix for the broken bolt. Take a close look though at the exhaust manifold once you get it off. Don't be surprised if some of the leak is from a crack right at the center dump tube. If it's not cracked I would still replace it with one of the new and improved ones anyway with the relief coils at each end (cyl. 1 & 6). Do a search, I got mine for around $125.00.

That's a fairly common issue with the 2.5L engine. It's not an easy fix but if your buddy is experienced and knows what he is doing where extracting a broken bolt is concerned, it won't be that bad of a job.
