Question Metal Cloak Fenders

I've read all the posts about them already but no one really stresses how long they took to install or any problems. So If you've had experience with them please leave a reply and help me out before I buy them.

It took 6 hours for me, but I was messing around with the front bumper also. It's not difficult at all. The hardest part is just pulling the stock fenders off.

So re-bolting everything back down wasn't a problem? and do the wheel wells fit tight and are thick? I wouldn't want a weak piece of metal protecting the side of my engine.

The aluminum wheel wells are very nice and strong. I had no issues with rebolting the new fenders on. It's like 12 bolts per fender or more (can't remember) and then it's fully attached. Then it's pretty simple putting all the random components back on (horn/fuses box/window washer fluid, etc)

Like in the previous post, the hardest part was taking the old fenders out. The inner wheel well fits right in. On my yj the side the took the longest was the passenger because the inner fender has a lot attached to it. But the whole process is pkug and play.

To make the install easier either label the bolts and put in a bag or replace them on the fender. Then just switch it over. Also be careful with stock fenders, somebody may want to buy them.

No, they're overline fenders and 4" flares. They go up above the hood just a little bit

These look really nice. Can you link which ones you have on there? I see a ton of different ones on their site. With flares, without flares, etc. And do you know if they're street legal? I'm going to have to replace my entire front fenders eventually.

They are street legal but very expensive, to use the actual flares themselves you have to get the part which remakes up the wheel well too.

You have to look at your state laws on that one. Go to metalcloak.com and choose the tj section. Then select which fender type you want (overline or arched) and then select the flare option you want (none, 4 inch, or 8 inch). They aren't cheap

Thanks. They aren't that bad compared to the price of buying all new stock fenders offf of Quadratec. Those are $540 a pair vs $599 for the overline tube pair.

I noticed you also installed the metalcloak front bumper, which looks awesome. I know you have to choose different options to build the bumper on the website. Which stinger hoop did you choose? (Sorry about the hi-jack)

I have the hi mid stinger. Hi meaning the shackle recovery points are at the top where the support piece meets the bumper. Mid meaning its only 15.5" above the bumper base

It was a easy intall, just like the other guys said, taking the stock ones off takes the time. also alot of stock clips broke that the fender bolts go in. heres my pics

For those that have done the install, how much more difficult would it be to replace the grill at the same time? Any gotchas on why you couldn't do it at the same time as the fenders? My metalcloaks are ordered, and I need to replace the grill, figure if I have it town down that far shouldn't be too much more of a job to replace the grill..?

It will def be easy to change out ur grill when installing the front fenders. I actually took mine off and plasti dipped mine when I did my front. I would do that before installing the inner fender and leave it loose so you'll have enough play to bolt everything up.

Another hijack. My Rubicon lockers are long gone. My ARB compressor is currently located on the "shelf" by the brake booster that was originally intended the the ABS system. Will I need to relocate that? I am wanting the MC fenders and I realize that other brands have issues there.
