Might be a stupid question but.....

If I have 31 x 10.5 tires on steel rims.. How do I know if I can fit 33 x 12.5 tires on the same rims?... If I can at all.. Thanks!

What size are the rims? Width most importantly.

I'm assuming these are aftermarket wheels? Do you know what kind?

Do you have one handy? Check the rim for a size or part number stamped on the wheel itself.

Unfortunately I don't know what kind, they came with it already on the jeep, I can't find any markings on them.. I could take a picture if that would help

Well since you have 10.5's now I would bet you have 15x8's

You can technically put 12.5's on those. Although I would go with 10" wide rims for 12.5's

You'll be fine. if you get any rub at all which I don't think you will at full lock either way with the 12.5in wide tires a simple washer in the steering stops will fix it.

Yeah I'm not worried about rub because I will be lifting it when I go to 33's I just was checking if my rims will fit with 12.5's

Was not refrencing rub from tire hight but from tire width. Lift does not effect whether you rub or not from a tires width, wheel back spacing is what applies to that

Just in case you wanted to know, those wheels you have are cragar soft 8s
And there should be markings on the inside of the rim saying something like Made in USA 15x8.0 wide j.j. DOT CT&W.

For anyone who airs down for offroading a 8-9in wide wheel is what is recomended for a 12.5in wide tire as it will hold the bead the best. A 10in wide wheel will work but it's not ideal or recomended unless your 4x4 is just a mall crawler. You can air down with that wide of a wheel but not to a optimal level in most terrains.

So in the end your set. Enjoy the new tires, post pics when you get them
