miles to a tank??

Just drove the tj to Norris lake pulling the waverunner. Maiden long voyage in my jeep. 300 miles on the freeway with a soft top. Quite noisy @ 72 mph lol
had my grass mowing radio muffs so it wasnt too bad. Seems i got 15 mpg. My gauge is scary it moves to 1/4 so fast I filled up and only put 9 gals in. So the question is how many miles should I be able to travel ?before I should stop.

Damn, I only get about 220 miles to a tank....on the highway! Im usually running about 8-10 in the city and maybe 12-13 on the highway. I'd say you're doing pretty damn good!

You need to follow this to determine accurate MPG. Miles to the tank is not how to determine fuel economy.

First thing to do is use a GPS and determine if your speedometer is accurate and if not the percentage it is off.

Now, fill the gas tank, record the odometer reading (or reset the trip odometer to Zero)

Drive the jeep until it is empty.

Fill the tank and record the exact number of gallons it took to fill it.

Record the odometer reading and subtract the beginning mileage from it (or record the number of miles on the trip odometer)

Divide the number of miles driven by the number of gallons it took to fill it back up. DO NOT omit the tenths if there were any.

Now do this a number of times and average it out.

If your speedometer is off multiply the number of miles driven by the percentage it is off and add it to the number of miles driven before dividing by the number of gallons.
