Mirror Bracket

I hope somebady can help. I have a broken screw where the mirror relocation bracket goes. I tried drilling it out but it seems to be pretty hard. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Those screw heads are pretty soft and are pretty easy to strip out. I would just get a better quality hardened drill bit and drill the head off. Choose a drill bit diameter that is just slightly larger than the thread size so only the head comes off leaving all of the threaded part behind. Then you can remove the mirror and use vise grips to unscrew the remaining stud that will be protruding from the tub. I've had to do this a number of times on various Jeeps and this is about the only method available to most Jeepers that works. The only other method that also works is to tack-weld a bolt to it so you can unscrew it but few Jeepers have a welder available.

I'll give it a shot. I'm guessing a carbide bit would work.
Thanks

Good luck. If you can drill a hole in it, you can use a bolt extractor to get it out, but be careful because if you break the bolt extractor off inside your Jeep bolt, you are screwed. Get some oil and drip it around the bolt. It will seep in there even though it seems impossible.
