mirror movement

The outside mirrors on my 97 TJ will move from their proper setting on a regular basis. The passenger side will move from merely closing the door on that side, and the wind seems to affect both at times. Is there a way to tighten these so that they don't turn inward and constantly require readjustment? They feel quite tight to the touch, but obviously, not tight enough to stay in one position.

Thanks in advance for any information for tightening.

My brother's 97 Sahara has this same issue, we're considering just swapping the mirrors for newer ones, like on my 04.

Its like spring loaded and only has two positions or so. If you move it back and forth too much it will wear down the tit that holds it in place. You are supposed to adjust the mirror itself to see, not the housing.

Edit: Have to change that to say depending on model. I guess older ones could be different.
