Modified Jeep Laws

Does anyone know if there are any tire size / tire & fender laws in North Carolina? Or any other laws that may affect modified Jeeps.

I don't believe so.. I drive through Charlotte all the time and nothing has happened. I do live in sc and there are no laws for that... I could be wrong. I can ask my friends dad, he's a state trooper for south Carolina he might know something about nc

i know in nj the biggest tire i can "legally" run is a 36, i run 35's, and the tires have to be completely covered by the fenders, mine arent, and the jeep has to have mudflaps, yeah maybe some day. i drive the thing 200 or so miles a week and never get bothered, had a few cops compliment me on it but never complain about it. i dont think most cops know the laws about lifted/modified vehicles, i think they just assume if it has a good inspection sticker that its all good. that aside, iv never heard of any laws like that in north carolina but you might want to ask a police officer or your local dmw to point you in the direction of their modified vehicle laws.

Yeah most cops like lifted vehicles unless your a trashy redneck or something. I wave to all the cops/troopers I see on the road and they wave back a lot of time. Some points on the board if I get pulled over.. Story: I was driving my mom's car, Hyundai Santa Fe, on the way to prom last year and trooper caught me going 101/60 (yeah dumbass thing to do, wasn't paying attention and I used to my Jeep pedal (all the way to the floor)) and he called my mom and stuff and he said son i'm gonna let you go with a ticket for 475$ and 6 points, I want you to write a 1,000 word essay on the Dangers of Speeding and I might drop it a little... Went to court about a month later. Handed him the essay, he read it, thought it was great, he then smiled and asked have you learned your listen? I said yes sir, he told the judge drop it to $81.50 and 4 points. I was very shocked, great guy. About 6 months later, road block comes up in my jeep and his sergeant said alright your good to go and then I hear a familiar voice saying hold on wait a minute, I looked behind me and guess what? Same trooper, I said Trooper ______, he goes yes sir? I said my name and he said that sounds familiar i said 101/60 he said yes yes how's it going and asked if I could speed in my jeep and I said no sir, and he told me that he got one not long ago and is planning to lift it soon and I asked if he needed help and he said sure son whenever I get my bills paid i'll see you around.

Just thought I would share that... Ironic seeing the same trooper and talk about life and jeeps haha. BTW he wrote me a warning for improper lights, glad he did though, backlight was out.
