more on gear question

well my last thread ended with people arguing over something way off topic so i will try again.

i am wanting some 4.88 gears

i have a 97 2.4 litre wrangler with 4 inch lift and 35's

im guessing i have the 30/35 front/rear end...might post pics so you guys can double check

ive been looking at these: http://www.jeep4x4center.com/jeep-wr...inion-gear.htm

so all i need other that that is the axle kit or something right?
lower quality gears make noise ive heard. is it loud and are the ones im looking at low quality?
whats a reasonable price to get them put in?

a local 4x4 shop quoted me 1400 for gears and install...however i think i can do it for well under that

i thnk that price is REALLY high especially if you're buying thta stuff, first off if you decide to jsut get new gears adn stay with the D35 then you will need to get a bearing set and stuff however i would suggest either prgrading to a better axle or getting better shafts such as....

heres what you'll need besides the gears at minimum

Gear install usually runs about $1100-1300 so that isn't too bad actually. Superior actually makes a good product, so I wouldn't worry about them.

The only thing is, if you haven't done it before, it's well worth the money to have a shop do it and warranty it if anything goes wrong. Also, running 35" tires on the Dana35 is just asking for trouble. You might want to look into upgrading to a Super35 kit or a Dana44 axle.

I'd say that's way to high for the gears you are looking for. Check out Joe at Absolute. He's a board vendor and has good prices on gears and bearing kits.

Superior, Yukon, Precision are all good gear brands and setup very well.
