Mounting a CB

Where's the best place to mount a CB radio? For ease of mounting and accessibility.

That's going to be personal preference. I mounted mine to the windshield frame between the visors.

Oh, and also consider being out of sight because I have only a targa top and half doors on for most of the year.

Home made mount above the rear veiw mirror. Some people that mount their's above the rear veiw mirror just take it down until they hit the trails, I don't.

Is there a benefit in purchasing the full size CB versus the compact ones like the Cobra hand held that most jeepers seem to purchase?

Just bought a GME brand CB called "plug & play" Comes complete with a suction cup arrangement to stick it to the windscreen, has a mgnetic aerial and plugs into the cigar lighter. It is great cause I can take it out in about 1 minute and put it in in the same time. That way when topless and parking somewhere I can have the CB out. Or when washing/hosing down the inside of the Jeep I can take the CB out easily. But can put it in just as easily for when wheelin.

That's a good idea! Mine will be hard mounted, but I guess I can still remove it from the mounting bracket if I'm worried about it getting stolen. I'm getting a professionally refurbished Midland radio for $25.00

i mounted mine on the dash, right in the center where the change tray is.
It's a smaller model Midland CB, hardwired it to the cigarette lighter, hid all the wires behind the dash, looks really clean and it's out of the way for the most part. i can post pics if you'd like tomorrow.

That's one of the places I first considered. Pics would be great. Thanks.

Personal preference mostly. Just know that the speaker on the compact in-the-mic radios have small, poor speakers. An external speaker is almost a necessity.

I ended up mounting it below the glove box, beside the center console.
