Talking Moving cross country; need towing help!

I have an '05 Wrangler and it currently doesn't have a hitch on it. I am moving to Arizona, from CT, in a couple weeks and would like to move a few things via cargo trailer.
Can someone recommend a hitch to use (DIY), since I'll probably end up rental a trailer from UHaul. They are TOO expensive to do the hitch for me.
Thx!

Etrailer.com has a Class III hitch meant for the 05 Wrangler. $135

Trailer Hitch for 2005 Jeep Wrangler - Curt 13408

When you price compare with others, make sure you note the Class rating. I made a guess on this since you didn't state what size trailer you were going to haul with your Jeep. I suspect the trailer is not going to be anything major in size. If you are going to haul a lot, you might be better off with a larger truck and trailer the jeep.

Hope this helps, and hope you have a safe trip.

Don't forget you will need some lights on the towed vehicle.. Like turn signals and stop lights. Or you chance some cop getting behind you and then pulling you over. Moving violations in other states then your own can be quite expensive. And might be cheeper to let U-Haul do the set-up and be on the safe side

Or rent the truck and put the Jeep on a tow bar.

Also if you have a automatic transmission you want to be careful and not overheat it by towing a big load. Best to have an auxiliary transmission cooler.

have you even talked to a uhaul place and told them that you will be towing with a wrangler? my local uhaul place, and many others, wont rent to you if you're towing with a wrangler for liability reasons.

X2, when I moved from Maine to Utah, Uhaul would not rent me their smallest trailer because I had a soft top.

Thanks for the info. I have a hardtop, so I'd be ok on that side. I would be looking at hauling a 4x6 cargo enclosed trailer. I'm trying to go as low cost as possible but will revisit the uhaul & tow the jeep. Uhaul is just really pricey to go cross country with.

Yeah, Wranglers and trailers if to heavy or not load balanced are deadly.A frind of mine loaned his 18" utility trailer to Sheriff's son to haul tractor...When the kid showed up he was driving full sized pick up, so my buddy hooked trailer up and off he went.Unknown to my friend, the kid got home and hooked trailer to his Wrangler, loaded tractor and 10 minutes later he was dead.My buddy was sued for over a million bucks and the kid was dead...Bad deal all around.
