Mpg got better!!!

I was averaging 13 mpg with 32'' and 3,5 re lift.. with the E-fan, and soft top.

I put on my hard top and walla. almost 16.5 freeways and city.

it was that much of a difference due to a top

I would jump for joy if I can get 20 mpg.

The hard top is much quieter. You don't have the roar of wind running over the rippling top, plus road noise is much more reduced. That being said, I have had my soft top on since January. Not that it is up much though. Just there if it looks like a heavy downpour is headed my way

If I had a choice, I'd switch mine to soft top and deal with the noise & mileage. It's worth it to have the freedom of top-down at any time. Hardtop is too heavy to remove whenever, and I have no where to put it.

yes the noise is like 40 percent quiter.. I feel more secure in the winter with my hard top.. come spring its off again.. although where I live winter is very mild.. but I like it more civilized sometimes.. I get tons of wind riding my motorcycle, and just want some tanquility at times.. O and the jeep is my DD.

i did run my hardtop until about 4 months ago.. i just didnt have time to take it off.. i like the looks of my hardtop compared to the softtop.. its a lot quieter and the jeep seems like it drives better with it on..

i hate running the hardtop in the summer, i mainly only run it in the winter.. but its GREAT having both

How 'bout the best of both worlds?

The hardtop is nice in winter, the heater works better.
The hardtop is nice in summer the air conditioner works better.

Have your your wife or girlfriend go topless all the time - the view is better.

I've been watching the mpg posts.
I have a 98 4.0 Sahara 5-speed man with rag top, straight factory--no mods.
Just filled up today; last tank 20.7 mpg (all highway). I have gotten as good as high 21's. Ticks me off if I get below 20. Even with a/c mostly stays above 20 if I don't get stoopid.

240 before the dummy light came on.. this is my best yet.. though I did put a techron cleaner in the gas tank.. I usually get 215 with the soft top and about 220 with the hardtop.... costco had the techron cleaner for 6 bottles for 11 bucks.. walmart sells them 5something a bottle.. Heck I even popped half a bottle in my motorcycle..

DAAAAAMN! Someone here actually gets worse gas mileage than me?

I'm at 180 when the dummy light hits me. Then I head straight to the station. I don't like to push 2,000lb white girls around. If they roll back on you, they can flatten you!

The accuracy of the gauge and light are not too good on my TJ. At 1/4 tank I can only put 10 or 11 gallons in and its a 20 gallon tank. This is normal for most jeeps.
