If you cant afford 10 mpg then dont get 37's. You cant factor in gas mileage when you lift a jeep to that height because its never gonna be that good. Id go 35's if your fuel conceious because thats still a decent sized tire and you'll be a little better off. I run 34's w/ 4.56 gears and an auto tranny and I get like 20 mpg on my new rig (99' TJ).

To be honest I have NO idea how my new Jeep gets such good mileage. My old one w/ 33's and 4.56 gears got about 14 with a 5 spd. I always thought that manuals got better mileage then autos but this neww rig has an AW4 from a cherokee in it. I made it about 40 miles on 1/8th of a tank when I picked it up. Hopefully this keeps up for my trip to Kentucky!

Hey Grn how many miles is it for you tomorrow?I got 209-236 depending on the roads I take.I can go through a few more small towns and take a few bit curvier roads and cut 25 miles of the trip but it will add about 40 minutes or I can stick to mainly interstate and main roads and get there faster but more miles????I think half the fun of a trip is getting there so I say the county roads? What do you guys say.Anyway I will use GPS to get there if I get lost first(its like asking directions I have to be really lost to use it)but I will also use it to check my mileage at fill up cause the Jeep is full right now and I have been getting right at 14 MPG the last tank of gas that is,around 13 the last few tanks before that. That is about half town/city driving and half highway.I drove 159 miles at 11.3 gallons and 90 miles of that were highway and the rest was city driving and mall crawling My GPS said 159 miles and I think the jeep speedo was off by 18 miles.

4.0L 5speed 35's with 3.73's i get 12-15 around town 18-19 highway and it evens out to usually about 16-17 mpg on average (im also 17 and drive fast so im guessing if you tried hard you could get a lot better and even better if you regeared!)

Sure thing Taz! It will get a great workout Im sure. But yea, they are nice. I was used to the 33" mud terrains so the 34's arent that much different. I can tell the difference a little though. As far as lift, I've got Full Traction long arms w/ 3" teraflex coils, OME shocks, 1" bl, and front acos but they are set to no lift right now. They clear just perfectly with the current bump stoping. It flex's great too. I have wroked it a little here and I know one thing for sure, I LOVE long arms.

By the way, the trip is going to be 500 miles for me slf41002. Its an 8 hour drive...

I was averaging 15-16 with 33s and 3.73 (6spd), then I went to 35s and mileage improved. First tank with 35s (and new speedo gear) was most miles on a tank. Due to habits, new tires lowered rpms while not increasing resistance enough I guess. Our habits are the same and we average about 1-2additional mpg with the larger tires. I was not happy with the 3.73 and 33. It was geared too high for me. I could start out in 2d gear with the 33s. Now, I think it is perfect

LMAO, you think thats high gearing for 33's!!? I had 4.56's w/ 33's and a 5 spd on my old Jeep. That was deff. too high for me. I think 4.10's would have been perfect but the current 34's and 4.56 is a nice combo.

i ran 33's with 4.88 in my grand cherokee. tell you what i could get out of anything, and i had a 4.0L. i just think i could run the 35 or 37 with the same 4.88 and be fine!
