Last time I checked I got 13mpg on 35" MTRs and 4.56. I dont even worry about gas mileage anymore with the aerodynamics of a brick, a parachute strapped to the back, and being 7' tall. Its not how often you have to fill up your tank...its how much fun you have between fill-ups!

You guys are high. With my 35's, 3.73's, and auto I'm getting somewhere around 11. The gearing will help even that out though.

Do you have a 4:1 t-case?

Cause I'm on 33's with 3.73's, 231 T case and it sucks in low range 1st gear when you want to crawl.

Yup, I have a Tera Low in there. I bought the whole TCase with the 4:1 for $800 bucks and honestly it's probably the best money I've spent on my rig. The gearing in 4Lo is great.

So with your tires and gears, on the highway, you must have a hard time keeping up and thats why the bad mpg's. I get 18-20 on the hwy with mine.

It doesn't do too bad. I actually think that if one does a lot of city and highway driving then 4.10's would be a perfect gear for 35's and an auto.

Jack, is that a 3 or a 4 speed auto? I've got 3.73s as well, with a 4-speed auto and am currently contemplating 35's with a LA kit when I get back from Afghanistan.

Just trying to get an idea of where I might be with the mpg.

Thanks,
Jordan

I've got the 3 speed auto with a lockup converter. It does drop the RPM's some on the freeway but not much. If you are running the 4 speed, the overdrive will help you out considerably with mileage.

35" tires, 5 speed, 4.88 gears, detroit in rear axle - i'm getting an average of 12-13 per tank. mix of city and highway driving with those numbers. if i drive like an idiot i usually get around 11....if i feather-foot it i can once in a great while touch 14...but usually more like 13.5

take all the money you've been sinking into gas and buy a beater for taking to work and keep the jeep for playing. best decision i ever made!
