My first Jeep

I'm pretty stoked, it's my first Wrangler. It's basically stock.
A little about it.
I gave 4200$ I'm not sure I got a steal but they are hard to find for much less.
98 model
4.0 engine high miles 197k
Automatic
31 in tire nothing to brag about these will change.
No rust underneath great for southern ohio.
Needs a few things before I can do true add-ons.
Windshield is cracked
Third brake light is out
For some reason there's only one rail on it but that was gonna be removed anyways.
Rear view mirror needs attached.
Turn signal doesn't click off.
It's got some dirty carpet for sure that's coming out soon.
I gotta put the spare back on.

I'm hoping to do all of that over the next week or so. Not sure if I want to tackle the windshield or take it to a pro. Anyways I will use this thread to update my progress. I'd love some suggestions on lift kits, tire/wheels, and other mods. I got my wife working on some para cord grab handles. I'm looking for probably a 3in lift and 33s or 31s.

Nice jeep, sounds a lot like mine. Had a crack in the windshield but it was already taken care of. Here's what mine looks like as of now. I have the rock sliders sitting in the garage

The only mod to mine was the bed lined interior. Other than that it was stock down to the plastic mud flaps haha.

definitely, removing the milk jugs alone will be a huge improvement.

Do you know what size torx is needed to remove the milk jugs? Need to remove mine and don't have a set.

You can buy a set for like $30.
You'll need em at some point anyway.

Cool thanks for assuring it was a decent deal. I will remove those soon. Idk that I can cut them, I'm not sure I have the right equipment to do that. My stepdad has a lift and all kinds of stuff so he may have something. He also has a 98 tj green. I'll post some pics of his later too.

You hit the lottery with the no rust underneath. Check the tire wear, usually they will put used tires on when they sell it. Mine were almost down to the indicator and had to purchase a new set within a year. Good find.

Not true, mine had 200xxx miles when i got it and ive already put another 15000 and the only thing thats gone is the radiator. As long as you do your oil changes on time and keep maintenance up your jeep the engine can go up to 300,000 from what ive hears

Good luck with it. If I were you I would let a shop fix windshield. It's only around 100$. Just had one replaced not too long ago.
Happy jeeping

Does have a good bit of mileage but that 4.0 is a beast and my stepdad can swap out a motor or tranny in a weekend. So I have very few worries in that sense. Anyways I did take that bar off. Also I could use new tires but my plan is to just buy a tire and wheel combo once these tires are done.im selling a 02 mirage and dumping that money into the jeep.

Keep in mind when you take doors off ur mirrors will also come off. in most states you need at least drivers side mirror so you'll prob need to get mirrors that you can put on when doors are off also

The best thing I ever did to my TJ was all the fluids (oil, diffs, tranny, radiator, etc.) and get it on MY maintenance schedule. Take a look at Monstaliner, it'll solve that carpet issue and is tough as nails.
