my first jeep ever few questions

I just got a 97 wrangler TJ sport 4.0 straight six, im young, and still a bit scared when i go off road. here is what my jeep has so far

- Rubicon Express 4.5 inch Long Arm Lift
- 33" BFGs w/American Racing Alum Wheels
- Durango 4x4 Front/Rear Bumpers
- Dana 44, 33 spline rear axels
- Detroit Locker (rear)
- ARB Air Locker (front)
- Master Craft Seats w/ 4pt restraints, and weather proof seat covers
- 4:10 Reduced Gear Ratio
- Soft top w/ tinted windows
- hard full doors (tinted) & fabric full doors
- Bikini top & Tonneau Cover (Both New)
- JKS quick swaybar disconnects
- Warn Rocker Guards
- Old Man Emu Long Travel Gas Shocks
- Alpine Stereo (Controls iPod from Deck) w/ bass tube
- Tuffy Security Center Console
- Tuffy Security Cargo Cage
- Air Aid High Flow Intake w/ K&N Filter

I had previously owned a 91 chevy S10 that got stolen twice, and if my jeep gets stolen, im sure it'll get stipped and ill never see it again. what security should i look into getting (cheap and easy is best) my dads a mechanic, and was thinking a kill switch or two, the problem is theyre a bit of a hassel to install. also if i do get a killswitch what should i install it to? (starter, fuel pump ect)? thanks for the help in advance

i also plan on getting a winch, snorkel, cold air intake possibly, front skid plate.

May want to consider a safer place to park... parking garage? fenced in lot? price per year could be cheaper than security devices and you may get a discount on insurance if you explain the situation to your rep.

Just an idea??? not sure on your location, is it a probability? Or was your S10 something they really wanted? I've always thought it would be cool to electrify my handles to zap someone if they try to open the door. Not kill 'em or anything, just enough to knock 'em back for a minute and think twice about what they are doing.

Make sure that you keep the receipts for all of your upgrades together in a safe place and check with your agent to make sure that those things will be covered (you may need a rider policy) in the event that your Jeep disappears.

Motion sensors and kill switches are also a good idea and again, if you install any of these devices, inform your agent. It could give you a reduction in your premiums.

take your jeep to your insurance agent and have him take pics of all the stuff you have and add it on your policy .
and spend the money for a viper alarm system ( it is the very best ) .
and a removable steering wheel is great if you have to leave your jeep in parking lots a lot where you can't keep a eye on it. ( if they can't steer it the won't steal it )
by the way it sounds like you have a really nice jeep

Can you not steer a Jeep with a pair of vice grips? Idk, I know other vehicles have a big bolt where the steering wheel goes and a pair of vice grips works nicely for steering....

Here's a very cheap solution...(can't take credit...found it in a magazine once...)

Cost: ~$5.00 (plus shipping)
Item: Master Lock model 517D
Click Here

Here's the scoop...

Pick up one of these Master Locks. They are the old school u-bolt/shackle locks that most of us had for our bikes way back when.

Here's the lock:


Take the u-bolt part and place it over your clutch and brake pedals:


Then push the lock side onto the u-bolt. it'll have enuf space to click once or twice:


There you have it...

When you try and press either the brake or clutch the other goes down with it.

Slick, eh?

i like the lock. great idea haha. also when i had my S10, It was parked in my yard, fenced in with a dog in the front. they wanted the stereo out of it, which sucked...but ah well. Thanks for the posts about the insurance compny and all that, ill tell my dad and go with him to see what they can cover and all that. ill post pics in a sec. Got the jeep for a freaking steal, it has over 10k in upgrades and bought it for 8k. the guy just didnt use it anymore

also, what motion sensor were you talking about? my dad whose a mechanic was thinking about hooking a killswitch to where you HAVE to turn on the lights before you can start the vehicle. where would you recommend wiring the killswitch to? starter? fuel pump?
