My Jeep Shakes!?!?!

My Jeep has a problem. Besides the whining it does when I turn the wheel (presummably the power steering has fluid in it?) the car likes to vibrate a little between the speeds of 46-50 MPH when I'm turning or braking sometimes. It doesn't happen all the time, but most of the time it does. I'm real careful turning or braking when I'm in that speed zone but it's starting to freak me out. When I brake or am turning/steering not straight the car goes from vibrating to flat out shaking side to side to the point that I have to brake to a complete stop to get it to quit. Someone told me it was the piston-like thing that keeps the wheels in line or that it keeps the wheel straight. It looks like a mini bike pump for lack of better terms and it rests between the front wheels. I don't have time to look up fancy names for it, but I am handy with car repairs and please someone also let me know if it's an easy fix because I need to do it myself (I'm broke). I'm not stupid when it comes to fixing, I just can't name stuff. Thanks for the help. (Also help with the power steering thing would be appreciated)

Get yourself familiar with your parts.

And the severe shaking you are talking about is referred to as "Death Wobble". It can be something as simple as a tire being out of balance, or the track bar being loose. Then again it can be worn out ball-joints. You just have to crawl under there and make sure everything is tight.

What a great pic!
When looking for a car to buy, should I be concerned if I see any excess fluid around the joints or around any of those parts?
I looked at one and everywhere where there was a joint on those pieces there was alot of fluid visible

I had the same problem when I applied the brakes. So I replaced the rotors and brake pads and it vibration went away, and about the death wobble I rotated my wheels 2weeks ago and had the death wobble so I put them back where they were and it went away, I have not had the chance to balance my tires yet since I work at a tire shop for my part time job , but I will let you know if that was the problem after I do it. hope fully this will help

On the control arms, no... but on the steering linkage, they all need to be greased.

Does anyone know how to install a track bar or a website to find out how? I want to either fix it if it's fixable or replace it.
