Thumbs up My lift is in!

2.5" Progressive Lift from Rough Country.

So far I have had one person recomend that I do not go with Rough Country. I don't know of anyone to try this particular one so I am going to give it a try.

I'll take plenty of pics to post...

MudDan's Garage coming up next!

Spring comp.

Well came across a delay, couldn't seem to find a spring compressor. So I tried to just drop the whole axle... even when I have it on the floor the spring wont fit with just a ratchet strap. I gotta work in 5 hours and have not been to bed yet. Tune in tomorrow when I get the right tool for the job.

Front is done!

So far so good. After borrowing my buddies spring compressor things really picked up. I'm almost drunk, fly is down, and the front lift is installed. Found that the spring retaining clip is missing from the right side... one more thing to piss me off. But what can I do? Order one right lol
So now to the back. Here are some picks of my install. Too easy

i've got the RC 4" and have been very pleased with the kit and the customer service of the guys at RC.

with that 2.5 kit, you shouldn't need a spring compressor... a bottle jack between the lower control arm and the frame works great

here's a pic of me playing in my Jeep

It's not missing, the factory only installs one clip on the side the spring can loosen in from engine torque.

Retainer clips? Who needs retainer clips?

Don't be messing around with that spring compressor after a few cold ones.....

They didn't say anything about gettin dirty! lol...

I ate and sobered up after finishing the front.

Just pulled off the rear tires and disconnected the sway.

Lookin at those rear shocks, top looks tricky. Are there nuts on top? I think they are 13mm bolts, but my hand don't want to fit behind to feel what's going on in there.

Any help? Anyone?

I I put my jack stands under the bumber instead of along the frame rail... so I didn''t have enough jack stand to get it high enough. I wanted room to do some inspecting. Old army habbit.

And there goes another bolt... WTF!?!

Ok... there is number 4 I have to try and extract. Oh I am heated now

I wanted to put a flame on them... but being right there against the fuel tank I was scured.

Well... didn't get to lower the T'case yet, or adjust the linkage.

I have no shocks on the back, so can't drive it anyway. After hours of drilling, trying to extract, drilling, drilling, and drilling. I tried to go in with visegrips and get them from the top. Can get a lil bite, but there is no room to do anything.

So, I think my options are:

1) Take it to a garage, spend I am guessing $200 just to get them out. That's if they don't fuck it up and charge me more to fix it.

2) Drill holes through and tap it myself... gonna be tough. Really bad spot with the Fuel tank in the way.

3) Drill out the holes, and attempt to add nuts to the back of bolt going all the way through.

4) Add on to #3... and instead of using those shocks, buy a bracket to bolt on, so I will not have to use that style shock, and never have to pull off the bracket again(In a perfect world where nothing breaks of course).

5) Put a piece of sheet metal between the fuel tank and the work area and say Ahhhh…F’it! Weld a few studs to a chunk of flatiron, weld that to the frame. And you got yourself a couple of studs to line up that shock a lil easier. I could make the bracket, but I’d have to pay someone to weld it to my frame.

Any ideas? I didn't see this coming... not a problem like this. It was supposed to be a 3-4 hour long deal... While drinking I expected longer. I did the front buzzed like hell took me a few hours. I do the back sober and now my Jeep is down for days

Ok, well after eating up both of my bits I got one hole drilled. Then, I used my dremmel and slit the one weld, only one more held it on till I beat it to death. So now my left rear is done. Got two more to go and running out of things to cut this thing up with.

So... lets test my luck... maybe I'll get lucky.

you shouldn't need to do a t-case drop with that small of a lift.

Oh... well it came with the lift. I'll adjust the linkage when I install this last shock on the right rear. If it works... leave it alone?

Lol i've driven my rig with no shocks on at all. Its funn You stop on the light, the jeep is bouncing for the next half a minute. You floor it, it bounces off the line. Fun times. And scary times. No front shocks = death wobble for me on big bumps.

I started heading to the hardware store with no rear shocks... it's fine in the back yard playing gently... but not going 50MPH... it scared the poop outta me lol.

Well... It does not want to shift into low at all... and does not feel like it goes all the way into 4-hi... I didn't run it in 4X4 yet...
I'll give it one more try when I get this shock and tire back on... thanks.

I found a fast way to get rid of those nuts welded on to the bracket... which is welded to the frame. I found that those nuts are tacked in two places. So I took the ol Dremmel out and with a 426 cutting blade I cut one weld off... and a lil deeper. With a cold chisel from the outside of the frame in that crevis below the wheel well I gave it some good hits from a 3# sledge. This took 30 minutes from the time I pulled the Jeep into the garage. Good stuff... now just hope the second comes out that easy.

Lift is on... Everything is good!

Here we are... I busted some nuts getting this lift in but besides my Jeep being stubbern it was not hard to install.

I can tell fo sho that it's lifted... now time for a lil play time.

I mean... test time.

All I need now are my tires.

A set of 32-11.5-15 Dunlop MudRovers should really set it off.

The ride was great, can't complain. Have yet to take it off road... waiting for the tires.

Unstock...

looks good! i just put on some RC extended brake lines yesterday. you might want to check into them if you really want to put that extra flex to use, you're right on the edge of what the stock brake lines will handle.

I hope you know that you have to swing the shifter to the right when you reach 4 hi. You should be able to get into 4 hi, it only might be around where Neutral is though.
