Talking My new Jeep is one dirty girl and a question

Well fellas i inked up and got my jeep last night. I went with the 03 rubicon that i posted earlier. I couldn't help but take a little detour on the way home. Almost got it stuck but she wasn't going to let it happen. This will be the first of many questions. I've posted a pic of a little silver knob down by the 4x4 shifter. What is that for? I believe it's after market. The seller bought the jeep with it and doesn't know as well. Any ideas???

VERY NICE RIG!! You didn't waste any time getting her dirty. LOL You are going to need to look behind that console to see what that switch is hooked up to.

Looks like that knob is hooked up to some other box in front of the console. Pull that out and see where it leads.

You'll have to trace or follow the wires in the console area and under the dash. Since it's aftermarfket it could be for anything.

it's a pull switch. I'll play with it until something either catches fire or falls off. I'll post some vids and pics from today's outing. It was awesome.

My mom always told me if I kept playing with it,() it would fall off. She never mentioned anything about it catching on fire!!! Nice Jeep!!

It looks like you have a fairlead but no winch, maybe it was for a winch that's no longer there, maybe it's for those aftermarket lights on the front, or maybe it turns off your dome light when your doors are off.

Good luck

But whatever it is, you sure didn't need it to get it dirty

Well i didn't have time to trace the wires and figure out the switch. Frankly I don't even care anymore. This Jeep is one BAMF.

Rubicons have a safety built in so that the factory lockers can't be engauged in 4hi. The location of that switch is a common place to ground the wire that over rides that safety. Try locking your axles in 4hi and then if it doesn't work, pull the switch and do it again.

The reason people put it on a switch there is so they remember to turn the safety back on for 2hi. No sense in driving home with your axle locked.
