I bought it for a steal. Previous owner did a brake job, new power steering pump, alternator, T-case and drive shaft, and a bunch of other little things, but there is still work to be done to get it where I want it to be. I was wondering if anyone could pm me a FSM for my Jeep, so I don't have to spend $80 on a paper copy and slaughter a tree and a half! I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
Clean looking Jeep and welcome to WF!. You can either post or search the forum for your answers if an FSM can't be obtained. Pretty much any issues you are experiencing more likely have already been experienced by one of the members.
Dang, if it weren't for the different wheels, I would have accused you of stealing my Sahara, that I just picked up on Monday! Actually, mine is a 2000. Beautiful Jeep you got there!!
Markrak: Thank you, kind sir. The lack of an arm rest is actually something I noticed immediately upon switching over to the TJ from my 1999 Dakota Sport. I plan to have the doors off a lot this summer, but I might look into that once winter rolls around.
Chowder58: TWINS! I must admit, your's looks a bit cleaner than mine. The exterior on mine is lacking the shininess that yours emanates. It's a Jeep, though! So, I don't even care. Haha!
Still a nice Jeep. Both my YJ's had factory side steps and they were all but useless as they were so close to the actual door openings. My Sahara has the same issue, but they are a nice trim issue. On my Rubicon not only are there no side steps, the small flare extensions are not there because of the rock rails.
Apparently if you search for replacement side steps, there is a difference in the 1997-2000 and 2001-2006. I found three sets for the 2001-2006 TJ on Ebay for $100-$200. Quadratec has various ones by different manufactgurers, some that are tubular and are lower (not good if you plan to go off raod) and some that also act as rock sliders, but are $300-$400.
Of course you might see if any salvage yards in your area have any 1997-2000 TJs that may have the factory side steps for a more reasonable price. The main aesthetic reason is to cover the raw bottom edge.
