I always wave at all wranglers and 4x4 trucks, 80% of the time I get one back. I drive in AL, FL, and GA. might just be a southern thang.

It's all a matter of perspective. I get less waves from TJ's than any other Jeep. 4 door JK's should be lumped in their own group instead of giving all JK's a bad name. It's extremely rare for a 4 door to wave.

Far too many TJ's are no more than cars to their drivers. I find a majority are driven by younger people who have the tops up and windows shut all summer long. They are text or playing with their Ipods and have no idea I even passed them, let alone waved to them.

There's a TJ at the gym I go to. The front tow hooks actually face the wrong way. I've been dieing to ask the reason, but from the look of the driver, he probably doesn't even know what a tow hook is.

Quite often I'll see a TJ on the other side of the highway going past. If I see him looking at me, I will always wave. I do it just so he can one day be someone who comes on here and says, "Holy crap, a JK just waved to me from across the highway."

here's my story about my drive home from the dealership this week with my 03 rubicon. the dealership is in southern delaware by the beach and there are alot of jeeps there in general. about a mile from the lot i see a cj, 5 i think, and he's looking down at somthing and doesnt see me wave. out on the highway i pass 2 other tj's and they are on the other side and don't see me. im a little depressed that my first day with the jeep and im 0 for 3. then when im almost home i see a jk comming. i think im about to be 0 and 4 and then he honks and flashes lights and waves. go figure. the person everyone least expected to wave goes bonkers.

I'm o-fer here in Wichita in the last week, probably about 2 yj, 5 tj and 5 jk, not one wave from any. Beginning to think this jeep wave is kinda like a snipe hunt...

maybe thats weird in NJ but in Missouri when its 100 degrees your crazy not to be enjoying your air conditioning! Although even then I at least have my window down, I like the fresh air

I enjoy driving my jeep because of the experience of being behind the wheel and knowing that I am happy doing so. When I wave to a fellow jeeper I am relaying that experince and hoping they feel the same way about their jeep/s. If a fellow jeeper waves back, cool, and if not hopefully one day they will wake up and realize how good they have it and have an enjoyable jeep ride.

it's a 3.8, and it's fine. more peak hp and torque than the 4.0, but it doesn't feel like it has the same low end grunt that the 4.0 did. the 3.8 is better on the highway and a little better on gas. people will tell you it's not as durable as the 4.0, but the 3.8 has been around for a quite a while now and has a good service record.

you have the cj, yj, tj and jk. they are model designations.

The 3.8 puts its peak torque at a much higher rpm than the 4.0L does, you need to rev the 3.8 harder to get the same torque that the 4.0L puts out. Generally speaking, inline engines put out more torque than those in a v-configuration is why that is the case.

I had a JK in my garage for two days to add some armor/rocker guards and I drove it 3-4 times during that weekend. The reduced low-end torque, when compared to my 4.0L, was very noticeable.

Coming from a long time wannabe who finally got his Jeep about a year and a half ago, it took me about an hour to figure out the "wave". So the newbe thing is no excuse. Funny, but my daughter and I talked about how the newer models seldom wave, most, not all, seem to be owned by a different tax bracket than I've had the pleasure of joining. I wave to them all, but much less enthusiastically to the JK's. Usually the "4 finger flip" with my hand on the top of the steering wheel. But I get a good 90% "wave back" here in Western MA from all the others, even the "right side driving" postal lady I see regularly out here in the hill-towns never fails me.

JKs really aren't that expensive. In fact, when I bought my TJ, I went to the dealership to buy a new JK. Saw a BARELY used TJ and fell in love with it. Test drove the JK just because I was there and didn't fall in love. To each their own.........

to be honest, I've got other crap to worry about than someone not waving at me. Yeah it's kind of cool to say hey other other jeep owners but to get butt hurt over it is pretty lame. If it's a built trail rig (brand doesn't matter though I won't to any of the Bro trucks) I'll wave. Though, my wife will get more waves when she's driving my LJ in general but will get more questions about her JK Rubicon Unlimited

Seems like jk drivers in my area dont wave at all maybe 1 in 10 even when i would wave first. For this reason i have recentley been testing this by never waving first. Now i never see jk drivers wave.

In the past TJ drivers would wave like 60% of the time when my jeep was stock, but since i have done some mods that make it standout like windshield lites, brush gaurd, lift and tires i have yet to see a TJ that i know saw me that did not only wave but wave first.
