My TJ "Bessie Lou"

Just got this last December...love this thing...with gas prices going up I should really drive the wife's car but we love this thing and we take it everywhere!

The first project I have tackled on it was taking the crappy spacer lift kit and air bags off(soon to be sold on craigslist). Man was that ride rough...but I put a 3" BDS lift in and I love it. I will get pics of that up when it stops raining.

Next on the list is a Rokmen Mercenary, new mirrors (since they never stay in place), some KC's, winch, and hopefully some sliders. Then a SYE (to re-gain the dropped transfer case clearance). I will be buying the Mercenary this week and the lights too.

Her name is "Old Bessie Lou" or "Bessie Lou" for short.

Looks great..did you have to make any other adjustments with the suspension..like a Transfer case drop or anything like that? I'm trying to get as much detail as I can about 3" lifts and what ALL they entail. Thanks.

Right now it does have the tcase drop...that will change in the future but I am buying other stuff right now. Eventually I will get a SYE...eventually.

So having that lift without the SYE hasn't caused any damage or issues for you?

Nope...well at least none that I have noticed. With the drop it really didn't change anything. She drives better than when I got her...

So I feel stupid...I have a jacked up back (injured right after finishing painting the bumper) and today I got a buddy to come over to only find out that this isn't the right bumper....I don't know how that got all jacked up.

There are two extra holes on the back that look like could attach under the sway bar...guess I am calling Rokmen in the morning....

Looks to me like it might be a bumper set up for an anti-rock sway bar?

I have no idea...this is the first time I have really dove deep into my bumper. I got the lift installed by one of my Assistant Coaches (for my sons football team) shop.

It just really sucks because I have waited all this time and had her all nice and painted...I guess such is life, but they were great to work with when ordering so I am hopeful about the outcome.

Nice jeep. And I have a quick question. I don't want to jack your thread, but I recently installed a 3" BDS as well. And I was wondering how exactly does a SYE eliminate the need for the T-case drop? I'm pretty new to all this stuff, so I still have a lot to learn..

Same here, if I am wrong please correct me...as far as I know it just adjusts your drive line angle allowing you to push that thing back up into the guts of the Jeep body...as it sits now I have to have it down to keep the driveline "level"...

Is this right wise Jeepers?

Alright got some good pics of the install tonight...best of all Rokmen has shined through with their AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was informed by Jeff that they have changed the design. You now have to take off the old bumper and the sway bar. Slide the Mercenary under the sway bar and re-bolt it. One problem...you now need longer bolts for the back attachment of the sway bar. Will post pictures.

The bumper has been on for a while.....

First I took off the tow hooks...

Then I took off the bumper, there is one bolt on the bottom....

Next...the new style bumper requires you take off the sway bar...

My make shift breaker bar...

These can be a pain to get off...

Just slide the bumper right on...it will look as sexy as this....

There was really only one issue....the back bolts didn't fit (sway bar bolts). I called Rokmen about it...they said it normally works. So either the angle is a little wrong on the bumper or my frame is off.

Overall an awesome bumper...extremely well built. I will buy from them again. It is really nice and I would recommend this to anyone!!!

Took her in the sticks in Southern Idaho...tons of fun except being responsible for my own search and rescue...the only problem is that someone stole one of my shackles while we were camping!!!! Jerks....I would have let them have it if they just said they needed one.

Went to lunch today and got this little surprise bump from the lady behind me....

This is her car...

This is what happened to my rear...

This is what happened to the dude in front of me....

Finally this is what happened to my awesome Rokmen Mercenary...

If you look beyond some of the dirt from some puddles I took the kids through, you can see the little itty bitty scratch....

So I got the insurance company to come look at this earlier this week, finally. I am getting a second quote on Tuesday. When it is all said and done I am debating on one thing...do I just pull the body corners out and add corner armor instead of repainting? Any thoughts, I could save money doing it and save even more if I add the warrior tailgate cover.....hmmmmm....
