My TJ has a whistle

I put a K&N Intake and a Rugged Ridge Throttle Body Spacer on my 1998 TJ 4.0L today
I went for a pretty long test drive...and noticed an intermitten whistle
My guess is its not a big deal, but im wondering if anyone who has installed these items on their jeep has had the same whistle, and how you got rid of it?

On a side note, my intake didnt install exactly how the directions said. The heat shield was supposed to bolt to the radiator, but my radiator didnt have the mounting point the pictures in the directions did, and the bracket wasnt long enough to unscrew a bolt from the radiator...put the bracket on there...and retighten screw

Instead i have the heat shield attached to a bracket with a 3 or 4 inch screw (see pic)

(the end of the screw just has some tape on it...because i didnt have a self locking nut...and i didnt want the nut to vibrate off)

I'd say it's the TB spacer. A lot of brands do that. I checked a few friends that had them before I got mine and most of them like it. I went with a Hesco just because none of them had it and it doesn't. Some of them whistle when they get on the gas, others when they let off of it quickly.

I guess you could check the seal between the TB and spacer, mine came with a gasket. Just make sure all surfaces are clean and it's tightened down. If it still does it, that might just be how it is. If it didn't make noise it wouldn't be doing anything anyway, CAI's and TB spacers are scams for everyone that gets a Jeep and wishes it had more power (just about everyone). I fell for it too. I've said it before and I'll say it again- I'll keep my 01 until Jeep quits screwing around and puts a Hemi and lockers in one stock...

I kinda figured that it was the TB spacer...and that it would just be that way. Thanks for confirming that.
I know a CAI and TB Spacer dont do much for horsepower...the main reason for doing it was to get a better sound out of my magnaflow exhaust. Figured that i might as well do the spacer while im takin the air intake off

The new SRT8 cherokee comes out in 2012, 6.4L V8 Hemi...but thats gunna be one expensive jeep. Hopefully Chrysler drops that in a wrangler soon

I went with Banks before I heard the magnaflow, so I'm jealous. I put the Banks "Ram Air CAI" on before the exhaust with the Hesco spacer and it made it sound meaner when I was getting on it. Ironic that they call this this thing a "Banks" "Ram Air" "CAI" when it uses a K&N filter (stamped right on it, fact not opinion) there is nothing Ram air about it (it's under the hood) and Cold Air Intake when it's intake is in the same spot as factory. Live and learn I guess. I do like the sound of the Monster exhaust, just wish it was smaller. I would think yours should help the sound of the magnaflow on acceleration. I'll probably end up getting the magnaflow cat and head pipe as mine are old and rusty, just might have to see how that sounds without the monster exhaust hooked up to it. A couple guys I work with do that on their diesel trucks and swear buy it for increasing power, all I know is it sounds sweet. As for future jeeps, how bout they put that hemi in the Low 40 concept wrangler.... Now we're talkin.

One of my buddies has a cherokee (with the same 4.0L engine as us) and he has a K&N, and his exhaust is straight piped after the cat. It sounds alot better than you think it would, considering 4.0 is a pretty small engine

I guess nobody has mentioned it by now... TB spacers will do nothing but waste money and make noise on an engine setup such as the newer Wranglers... They do nothing on almost any modern engine. Now back when we had TBI and carburetors it may be another story.
