I doubt you'll get more power, more likely a smoother running engine and one that will live longer. Maybe a bit better gas mileage too. Definately get it done though. Everyones got their favorite oil so I will just say reference your owners manual to see the minimum requirements and go from there

There are a million posts on sparkplugs. I use the recomended Autolite plug. WalMart carries them. Fram air filter for the stock intake. Distributor cap and rotor from NAPA if you have one close. Get the good quality, with brass instead of aluminum terminals. Plug wires, dunno. Mine has cheap Autozone wires on it that the previous owned installed just before I bought it. They work, so I've left them alone. If I bought new ones I would get better quality than the cheapest Autozones though.

Just replacing the distributor cap and rotor on mine made it run much smoother. A full tune up should do wonders.

Cap, rotor, plugs ,and wires are going to be the big ticket things for a tune up.

Just did the same to my 98; got it back in May and recently my gas mileage started to tank (worse than normal with the winter gas blend). After a nice tune up its running smoother and getting much better mileage. The spark plugs were very very bad, probably the main source of the problem.

you can get a tune-up kit that has everything you need. usually comes with OEM replacement and cheaper to buy the stuff separately.
