My wife wants cold air....

I am a new Jeep owner and a big ole NOOB so forgive the potentially stupid question.... I heard that the inline 6 that is in the Wrangler Sport is the same as the one that is in the Cherokee. My question is concerning the compatibility of the parts. Specifically, I am wondering about the A/C parts. It is near impossible to get used Wrangler parts in the Louisville area but there are plenty of junked Cherokees.

Can I use the A/C components from a '97 Cherokee on my Wrangler?

My wife complains about the heat while driving around town.... I know, I know, I should be happy for an excuse to ride solo but....

(this is a repost by the way...... I just didn't get any replies)

Try this trick. Go to the part store and get them to look up these parts for both (say you're "pricing some parts") and see if the part numbers come back the same. Or just call.

Or just buy new parts. I do not like getting used A/C parts. Tried that took 4 tries to get one that worked. Not worth my time to pull them all out.

I've seen a few kits with new parts but they are all around $1000. I have been hoping to find a cheaper way...... I compared part numbers and so far, they have been the same. There are a few that I haven't been able compare yet (I have been running off of a parts list from one of the online kits). Has any one out there added an A/C system? It seems like it wouldn't be too difficult....... but then again???

Engine and engine parts are virtually the same between a Wrangler and Cherokee in-line six. It's the transmissions that are different. I've owned multiples of both kinds of Jeeps, but I have never had to attempt what your asking. Seems to me though that the Cherokee A/C would work in the Wrangler with maybe only slight fitting/mounting issues.
