mystery switch???

i have a 2001 TJ Sport. There is a switch behind the steering wheel, (under all my guages) it looks like a light switch tht you see in houses. and i can flip it on and off and nothing happens. any ideas on what it is?

Picture?

Also It's location is not any stock switch. Only way to really find out is trace it. pull the cluster and fallow the wires.

could be a million things. I would first pull it out and hit it with a test meter...see if it gives you 12V when you have everything powered up. Previous owner may have used it to switch KC lites or something. Could be a disconnected hidden kill switch - - in my 76 nova I had one that locked up the 4 speed auto trans... (of course sticking a 700R4 in a Nova)

Never can tell.

Or try flipping it while the car is off and try to start it (this only applies for a manual transmission) it may not start when in one position or even start without having to press down the clutch pedal

The original owner probably stuck it there to mess with any future owners.

Obviously it controls the flux capacitor. It changes the speed requirement between 88 and 65 mph. so a jeep might actually be able to reach it.

It's either the flux capacitor or it's a switch that shocks the passenger when she starts griping about your driving.

How cool would it be if you had a power inverter hidden in the Jeep somewhere and you didn't even know it yet?
