Need Advice - 2005 Unlimited

Ok Folks, I need your TJ expertise.
I'm looking to pick up a TJ since my son is going be getting his license in about 2 months. He's footing half the cost.

I'm not up to speed on TJ's that much, so I saw one today for sale in parking lot. I did not have a lot of time to check it out.
Here's what was on the window...
2005 Unlimited 6-speed
52,000 miles
hard top & soft top
nates 4x4 front bumper and rear tire carrier
atoZ Rocker guards
8,000 lb Winch - I forgot to see what brand
3" BDS Lift
33" M/T tires on Black Rock wheels
Hella Driving lights on the Front Bumper
IPF light conversion with ARB harness
Polk Speakers w/ Alpine head unit
Bushwhacker flares

catalytic converter installed under warranty - 2012
rear main seal replaced under warranty - 2010
front passenger u-joint replaced

All work done by a OK4WD, have receipts.

Seller states Garage Kept, it looks it. And that they only drive it nice weather.
(yeah, yeah. Grandma drove it to church on Sunday I'm sure)

Asking Price - 18K

Looks to be in very good condition. Some minor rust on the rear bumper and Rocker guards. maybe a little on the body, but again I had about three minutes to look at it.

What are the things I should look out for or ask the seller and when I really check it out and take it for test spin.

What would be a good offer?

I don't know about in NJ but in Northern CA that would be a very good deal for a LJ as long as the frame in not rusted out.

Everyone likes to haggle. I'd try to get him down a bit but that sounds like a great jeep as long as it isn't rusted. LJs are the second coolest jeep made, after the scrambler of course

Buy it before someone else does! just make sure the frame isn't rotting out and make sure that there is no vibrating when your driving cause of the lift

I just bought an 05 LJ in September and that's a good price - I'd snatch it up and tell your son to keep looking

Ah - a 6 speed for a first car. Brings back memories. Some of them even good.

Sounds like a great deal. Love my LJ.

This is in the ball park on cost... LJ's hold their value really well. as noted above check fthe frame for rust/soft spots...just don't look at it.. hit it was a small hammer or screw driver to check for soft spots. pull back the carpet. made sure the AC/heat work on all fan speeds. The six speed is not the best at staying alive... just a a buddy with a rubicon LJ has to something rebuilt on his.. well under 100k miles... so make sure that is shifting as it should, make sure clutch seems okay. etc... out side of that check it like you would on any other used purchase.. maybe even run it by a shop...
