need advice on buying a jeep

I am looking at an 01 wrangler. It has 84000 on the odometer. It is a 4.0 sport with 35's. Its pretty clean but it looks like the rear main is leaking oil and also does the front drive shaft turn when its in 2 wheel drive? They are wanting 9900 for it. How much should I expect to pay to have the seal fixed? Thanks

main seal is like 100 bucks in parts.. I figure its about 400 bucks for a shop to do it.. 4.0 you dont need to seperate the transmission from the engine.. buy it if you know how to DIY. just try to get it cash for 8500 or 8k.. since the economy is dad.

IMO before changing the rear main seal.. tighten the oil pan gasket and clean it up to see if it still leaks.. and yes the frnt drive shaft does spin in 2 wheel drive..

x2 on price for fix of RMS. I would off er 7500. How does the rest of the Jeep look? 84k seem rather low for the RMS to be going south. I would check the jeep over really good.

Honestly, IMO save some extra dough and look for a used Rubicon
