Need Help buying a soft top

I have a 98 TJ Sahara with a hard top. I am ready to get a soft top for the spring and summer but have no idea where to start. Do you have any recommendations or warnings of what to look for or avoid?? Fabric suggestions (vinyl vs sail cloth), brand, etc?

Thanks!!

I got mine last year from fortec4x4. It's a rampage brand and has the 30 mil tinted windows. I'm pleased with the top, and those guys are awesome at fortec. Andreas is pretty cool.

Well, since you're going from hard top, to soft, you'll either need a top that comes with a frame (what supports the top, and what it attaches to), or a frameless top, which uses the roll bars for support and anchorage.

Thank you for all the info...if gou get a soft top w a frame do you leave the frame on if you take the top off for a day? Or does that look really odd? I'm looking for the ability to go topless here and there but won't be everyday...darn work!

i have a supertop nx. I like it. I'm more of a frame softop guy because the jeeps that i have seen without frames look a little more "messy" because the top is not tight. I like my top to be nice and tight!!!

I totally agree....the only frameless ones that look good, are the ones advertising for them.
