Need to find out who sponsored the no helmet law for motorcycles and how they got that law passed.

another thing to check... Im having trouble finding it myself

what is the legal definition of a door, if the legal definition includes "permanently attached" then the doors on a jeep are not actually doors and the vehicle was produced without doors and therefore does not require them.

just a thought, like the whole windshield vs windscreen thing

I'm guessing that the 'no doors' ticket was probable cause for something else.

To the OP, were you swirving, or doing anything that may have been observed as 'suspicious'?

This entire thing sound to me like it was a "I can stop him for this to investigate that...", or you simply didn't say your "yes sir, no sir" nicely enough so he wrote you whatever he could.

I don't think that's it. I think the OP had two previous contacts with the same officer. During one of those contacts, he was issued a warning about not having doors. I'm guessing the officer saw him with no doors again after the warning and decided to cite him.

As stated before.... No the reason for the stop was the doors. The trooper is just a stickler for jeeps. He told the judge that too.

Would tube doors be a compromise you could live with and the cops could live with?

I had the same situation in CT (except I got away with it).

I was driving with no doors/top and had my foot out on my rocker when an officer pulled up behind me at a stop light and started pointing and motioning at me. So I pulled in my foot and he gave me a thumbs up.

Not sure if it was just my foot, or he just had a problem with my doors being off. Either way, it turned out without a ticket for me.

Someone should find him something worthwhile to do then...
