Took my jeep to get inspected and it failed because I cut the fenders and my dumbass cut the side tail light on the fender, which they require to pass inspection. I need some advice on how to get a diy light there. The existing wires are still there I just ziptied them to get them out of the way. The guy at the inspection station said he's seen people rig up some custom LED fender light but I don't know how and wanted to see if anyone could help
Got to an auto parts store and get one of the little LED lights. They make them at .5" and 1" ( i have seen them at O'riley's) and then hook it up and mount it where that forward screw is holding on the flare
Less than $8 a side. And they flash with the turn signals as well. Picked them up at the local Auto Parts Store. They are LED, I just spliced on to the side marker wires on the factory side markers and ran then back towards the firewall and then up the inside of the hood. Easy job.
And when you get ready to take your entire fenders off and go with something else. Take note of where I installed the front Turn Signals under the headlights as well.
Does it have to be a marker, turn signal, or both? If both you might want to look at dual brightness/3 wire LEDs or you could mod a 2 wire light to have 3 wires with dual brightness'. If you can get away with either signal or marker than you won't need to worry about that.
If you still have the factory socket you can use that to wire the new lights to. That way you have a quick disconnect there and you don't have to cut the factory harness. Good luck with it and let me know if you have questions!
