Need help with identifying lift kit

Hi all,

I can buy a set of used springs/shocks for my TJ for a very nice price. Problem is, the seller is not sure how much lift these springs will create. They come from his TJ - he purchased it with these springs.

Judging by the bright yellow shocks that come with the set I think it's an OME set but not 100% sure.

The lenght of the springs are (uncompressed / not under the car)

Front: 49cm = 19.3 inch
Back: 37cm = 14.6 inch

Can anybody tell what lift this would give? I already compared it to stock springs but still this is only comparison of lenght - does not neccesarily give the correct lift figure as these springs may compress a bit more than the stock ones when under the car.

I'm hoping it's a 2.5 inch OME set. Does anyone have this kit - not under the car yet - and if so can you pls measure the lenght of the springs for comparison?

Or any suggestions what kit this could be?

Thank you,
Martin

Shocks are definitely OME, without markings on the springs it's a crap shoot

So there are markings on the springs somewhere telling what kit it is?

What was the difference in length to the stock springs?

There should be a marking somewhere on the springs telling you the amount of lift. I ran into a similar problem with my Rubi Express lift .. a buddy of mine looked at the markings on the springs and we figured it out.

I looked up the lenght of uncompressed stock springs on the internet and ended up with foll results:

Liftkit:

Front: 49cm = 19.3 inch
Rear: 37cm = 14.6 inch

Stock:

Front: 40,6cm = 16"
Rear: 31,1cm = 12,25"

Difference:

Front: 3.3" = 8,4cm
Rear: 2,4" = 5,9cm

So guessing 2.5 lift could be what we're talking about here....especially if the front springs are a bit 'softer' (and they have to support most of the weight of the engine....)

However if anyone has a OME 2.5 set on the shelf and could measure the lenght of the springs, we can say for sure it's the same

yes, they're probably OME 2.5" springs....but they make a bunch of ~2.5" springs...about 3-4 variations for front and rear....all with slightly different spring rates.

basically they offer light duty, medium duty, heavy duty, severe heavy duty....and unless you can read the tags on the springs, it's anybody's guess. they're also side specific, A & B, to compensate for engine torque over time...

fronts might be 931, 932, 933, 934...
rears might be 941, 942, 949, 996...

Ok thanks guys, have asked the seller to take a good look at the springs and see if he can find any markings on it.

If it's a 2.5 set I'll probably go for it

A buddy of mine has a 2.5" OME spring kit, let me give him a call and see if he can help you out and I will post when I get off the phone with him.

Update: seller couldn't find any markings on the springs so this is a dead end.

Hoping somebody can tell me the lenght of 2.5" OME springs for comparison!

Thanks,
Martin
