need info on tow hitch 97 TJ

My 97 TJ didn't come with a tow hitch on the rear, and I'm going to need one.
Any suggestion on what to get ...that I can install ...like a simple bolt on...

The only thing I will be towing is a very small trailer...something I can throw some 5gal. buckets in and of course my 6' portable gold sluice...
Also a small trailer with a canoe...so I won't be hauling anything heavy...

Just need a hitch with a ball on.

Thanks Bill

you can pick up a hitch at your local auto parts for roughly 125.00 and install it yourself without having to drill any holes but it is a little bit of a pain, I put one on mine it took about 30 minutes

good luck

Actually, Jeep also makes one that just bolts on very easily. It's not the 2" reciever it's the smaller one, but it's good up to 3500lbs. Mine wasn't much money, check your local Jeep dealer. Man, I don't hear myself saying that very much!

Happy hunting!

do you have to remove the bumper to put the bolts inside the frame?

I picked up mine off jc whitney for about $100 and they had a free shipping special going on. No need to remove bumper, they included a wire thing that screwed to the bolts to fish thru the frame and pull the bolt into place.

I just purchased this bumper from JCWhitney for $265 and put it on tonight. Took about 45 minutes and the bumper is rated at the manufacturers specs for gross weight and tongue weight. The bumper is made by BESTOP. It has the 2 inch hole so you can change out adapters quickly and easily.

If you are near an Agri-Supply they cary Curt hitches. I paid $112 for mine. Put it on in 30 min. It came with the wire to pull the bolt through. If you get some floral wire it will work also (about the same guage). Good Luck!
