Need info on Wrangler

Hey guys, I was a past member several years ago when I had a 2000 Wrangler SE. Had some really great help on here then and now I'm back, looking at becoming a Jeep owner once again.

I am seriously looking at an '06 Wrangler X, 6 speed manual Jeep. This little unit is showroom new w/ 19000 miles on the clock. Has about 3k in brand new tires and wheels, and a lift kit I would guess in the range of about 3 inches ?

My question to you guys, what should I look for indepth at this year model jeep that I haven't seen or noticed in the blind ?

Thanks and glad to be back with a new to me Jeep soon !!!!

Be a jeep guy again. Jump under it and look at EVERYTHING, move u joints (try). Check out what axles are under it. Make sure you get it too 55ish mph to check for death wobble. Give us more info and pics would be awesome!

If you haven't gotten more out of the insurance company than you deserve, then you haven't screwed them nearly as much as they have been screwing you for the past xx years.

If you plan to build this Jeep up and hope to some day to install to 35" tires or install a rear locker, check to see if the rear axle is a Dana 35 which has an oval differential cover with a black plastic snap-in lube fill hole plug, or the Dana 44 which is shaped more like a stop sign with a threaded steel bolt plugging the lube fill hole. The optional Dana 44 that came on some 4.0L TJs (not on the 2.5L) is SIGNIFICANTLY stronger than the base model Dana 44 and will allow you to safely run larger tires and/or a rear locker with ease.

The base level Dana 35c rear axle is not strong enough for a locker or to run tires larger than about 33".
