Need new headlights

I've got an 05 TJ and the headlights (stock) suck hard. Haha. Just curious what brands and type I headlights you folks out there have used and what you think about them.

I also have an 05. You are 100% right about the stock lights, they suck.

I ordered these from Qtec.
Hella Lighting 002395031 - Hella 7" Round E-Code (ECE) H4 Conversion Headlamp Housing - Quadratec

I also got some Syvania 60/55 bulbs from the local O'reilleys.
It makes a huge difference.

Cibie housings and Narva 90/100w lamps are brighter than the truck-lite, but require a little more work.

I'm using Hella Lighting 002395031 - Hella 7" Round E-Code (ECE) H4 Conversion Headlamp Housing - Quadratec they are twice as bright as stock and it's as easy as changing a headlamp bulb.

If you go with E-code lights or any others for that matter here is a good link to getting them adjusted right. It really makes a difference. www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/aim/aim.html

If you are just going to use your Jeep for the street, save yourself the many dollars you will spend for led or other usually non-DOT compliant fixes. You can just go buy Sylvania Silverstar plug-in replacement sealed headlamps for 10-$15 or so each on Ebay or Amazon. They are a standard DOT approved headlamp but use a better halogen filament that is MUCH brighter than stock, and more of the "white" side of lighting versus the stock more"yellow" look. I have them and am very pleased.

Here is a link to the correct part:

This may be the way I go for now. She's my daily driver and being on Long Island I don't have many off-roading options (unless you count using the shoulder of the highway to get to your exit in bad traffic lol). Thanks for the info!

Check out "Round Eyes". I've used these on a couple of Jeeps with good success. Better than stock, including Silverstars, and you can get them for $109 delivered

7" Round Jeep® Conversion Headlamps - Jeep® Headlamps by Roundeyes™ Inc.

Here is a link to the correct part:

Amazon.com: Sylvania H6024 Standard Round Halogen Headlight Bulb (Low/High Beam), (Pack of 1): Automotive
Same for me and I am happy with the cost and the result.

Wow! Thanks for that link. What a great article, and definitely an eye opener on myself being a cheap-o. Haha. My only real question now is...
Since the article used a JK and I have a TJ, will I have the same flicker problem as the JK?

I would vote for the Hella E-Codes as well as a good lamp to go with. Truck-lites are fantastic, but way out of budget!!

i am and have been a firm backer in the bosch/hella h4 conversion. but with the prices on truck-lites coming down and the fact that i've gone through 3 bulbs already, its almost getting to the point where the truck lites will be cheaper overall in just a couple years. not quite there at around $400 for the pair, but getting closer.

so far i have about $220 into mine including replacement bulbs. I would hope the LED's last quite a bit longer than a couple years

They are way below that. I got a pair from ebay a month ago for 360 with free shipping.

My buddy has the Silverstars and after seeing them next to my stock headlights I'm switching to those also. Me and him both use our wranglers daily on long island if that helps your decision

Best bang for buck silverstars. Good lights. H4 all use interchangeable bulbs. I have normal Hellas with an illegal off road only bright. Cool. Don't bother no one. Brights look like off road lights. Day times are plain. I run them in KC h4 conversions. If money is tight silverstars are the best I found until the h4. Blue sylvainias suck. Thru em away. Alaska darkness will make you throw away crappy lights fast.
