Need new soft top for daughters new LJ

I just bought my daughter a 05 LJ. It came with only a hard top and she wants a soft top. Bottom line is I need advice on the best one and where to go to get it.

That's going to be difficult to find used. Your best bet is to go with the Bestop Sunrider soft top. 4Wheelparts.com is offering free shipping right now. Make sure that you get all the hardware that goes with it.

Jeeptopdepot is pretty good. I just bought a top from them. If you went with a Bestop Trektop you wouldn't need hardware (~600). The others (with hardware) are in the 800-900 range. Either way isn't cheap.

I'm partial to "Bestop" products...I think you will be happy with them, just talk to someone there to make sure you are getting all the hardware you need.

There are some limitations as to what is available for your unlimited. The SunRider by Bestop is the best one out there and is the factory standard soft top for the unlimited. It will not only allow her to ride with the top down, but can be opened like a sunroof as well.

Last time I checked the only complete aftermarket top in the market was the bestop trektop. Your best bet is to search around for a used oem frame then buy the replacement bestop skin to go on it. Or you can wait until Rampage completes their version on the Viking top for the LJ.

That would be Best top and the stock soft top for the Unlimited is the SunRider.

As stated bestop is the factory top maker, and have great after market tops as well. Also they have fantastic customer support.

You may need to go with MOPAR on this one.

The Bestop Supertop would be the choice for "closest to factory" for a TJ, but we don't make one for the Unlimited TJ.

We do make the Trektop for the Unlimited, and it's a nice top - it's simpler than stock, since it uses the rollbars for support instead of bows. Cheaper too. Worth checking out.

Not positive, but I think the story is much the same with our competition: you can get tops like the Trektop for an LJ, but not the factory style.

Safe bet. But someone's got to support Chrysler in their hour of need.

Hey: Where you from in Idaho? I was born in Lewiston, and came -this close- to moving to Sandpoint a few years back. Gotta love the panhandle!

Geoff, isn't the sunrider a registered trademark of Bestop? My LJ came equipped with it. That is also how it is listed in the Jeep Sales Brochure for the Unlimited TJ. Are you saying that one cannot purchase that top for the Unlimited any longer or only through a dealership?

Sandpoint is it. I do love it. Moved from here when I was young and came back 8 years ago. Good hunting and fishing but the yuppies are trying to take over. I have been to Lewiston on several occasions but dont care much for the high desert

Looks like a Sunrider on my LJ. Right where the front piece flips back the swivels have busted. Going to have wire them or something.

That is the same one I have on my LJ

That's correct, we do make it. And it will be better than what we sell aftermarket, to be honest. You'll get the factory windshield channel and the factory door surrounds -- all made by us, but we can't sell them aftermarket.

I would have been one of them. There's one big yuppie employer in town, and I work in Internet Marketing, so you can guess where I would have worked. Then I could have helped inflate your house prices, blocked the boat ramps, and joked about all you sawdust manufacturers.
