Question need new tires but what to get

okay people i tried to search throughout the website to get the right information but i couldn't the right answers i have the 30x9.50 15 stock in my 2005 tj sport i haven't done any off road stuff yet i just use it to commute to and from work during winter last winter was a hassle if only i could have lifted it by at least 6 inches i would have went through it with ease anyways now the big question is what's the biggest size i can go up without having to lift and re-gear (but i will in the future) i've looking to get a 31s but i really like the look of the 33s on my stock rim and it would give me at least an 1.5 inch spacers i am sure i do need them your help will be most helpful thanks in advance

If you are at stock height with stock wheels you can only fit 31's and have clearance for flexing. With less backspace on the wheels you can fit 33's for on road use only, and at that you will probably rub the flares when you hit potholes and go over bumps.... and you will probably have to adjust the steering stops up front to keep from rubbing at full turn.

so if i can really put in 33s i will slowly upgrade everything else like the lift and re-gear but what else should i do for the meantime besides adjusting the steering stops ? do i need to do anything with the tranny too?

Tranny is good. But depending on the gearing it could suck bad. I would do a lift, even if its a BB, and then put on 32x11.5's. It looks pretty good.

There is a tag on the rear axle housing plate that will tell you what ratio you have. There are quite a few tires that will run better on the ice and snow. I have Dick Cepek tires and they are the best tires I have ever had for the winter.

thanks i will look into that tag and as far as the tires i decided that i would go with the 33s (hoping that i can depends on the gear axle ratio) and i saw that mickey thompson baja oh yeah i would go with a 4' lift rcd with bilstein shocks has anyone have any reviews on these? i look into sticky's tj review kit but there was none about it again i would be just using it mainly on road use but have it ready for off road just in case i have the time

If I had the funds, I would go with Goodyear Dura Tracs 33"(good in bad weather and nice tread), OME 2" lift(which what I hear actually gives 2.5) and a set of Cragar D Windows 15x8 3.75 backspacing. The D windows give you the pretty blue and red pinstriping. Just my thoughts.... I need a money tree!

I love Jeeps you went from tires to lift, regear and rims in 13 posts.

As long as you have the rearend pulled apart you just as well install a locker. The install will be the same cost.
