Ive heard bad things about fram but have never known anyone to have problems with them. I run a purolator pureone filter. The one i get is about twice as tall as the stock filter and i figured extra filtration couldn't hurt. Part number is PL3001 iirc.

Edit: Also holds extra 1/2 quart of oil.

I have also heard varying reports but like you said...never personally had any problems??...and its usually only the other option to the house brand stuff on the shelf

FL-1A is a bigger filter that will work. 98 v8 mustang if you need to look it up.

You actually don't even need to run an oil filter on jeeps.
