Need some experienced input on 17" wheel swap

Ok Im wanting to swap my 16" factory wheels and tires for some 17" HD Rockstars without a lift for now.Will this work?Im thinkn of going with 31 x 10.50 MTZ's and when I do get a lift what size will work? Im told a 2.5 or 3".This is also a daily driver with some off roading 2 days a week.Need some input/advice. Thx .

You want experienced input? Do NOT go to 17s. Heck it would look better to drop to 15s. On cars and trucks big wheels are nice, on Jeeps 15s with big tires look so much better than 17s.

31's fit without a lift.
2003 TJ, 33" BFG AT, 2" BL, 2" BDS spring lift, Truck Lite headlights, Homemade sunrider top.
